Miles Franklin's waratah cup and saucer

The Waratah Cup and saucer are housed with 'The Book of the Waratah Cup' (SAFE/R 230 (a-b-c). The book was used for autographs for distinguished visitors to Miles Franklin's home at Carlton, New South Wales. Guests were invited to drink tea from the Waratah Cup (held in the Mitchell Library collection at SAFE/R 230a-b) and to write in the Waratah Book. This part of the book contains entries from 1944 to 1954, with two from 1904 and 1908. Writers include Jean Devanney, Nancy Cato, Nancy Keesing, Katharine Susannah Prichard, Henrietta Drake-Brockman, Beatrice Davis, Tom Inglis Moore and Pixie O'Harris. The book also includes a letter from Rose Scott, 24 August 1902, pasted onto page 1, and a poem and letter, 31 Jan. 1906, from S.W. Jephcott.
