Max Dupain was born in Sydney in 1911. From 1930-1933 he worked in the commercial art studio of Cecil Bostock. In 1934 Dupain established his commercial studio in Bond Street, Sydney and 1941 he formed a partnership with the photo-engraving firm of Hartland and Hyde.
