Sir William Denison (1804-1871) was Lieutenant-Governor of Van Diemen's Land from 1847 to 1854. In 1854, he was appointed Governor of New South Wales and Governor-General of the Colonies of New South Wales, Van Diemen's Land, Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia. He held these positions until 1861 when he was appointed Governor of Madras...
