Notes: "Copied by A.E. Stephen Oct. 1943." Stephen meticulously copied several Bemi originals, some of which were later acquired by the library in ms. original and/or lithographed prints. Besides the eight blocks bounded by Cleveland, Phillip, Botany, and Elizabeth streets in Redfern the map shows the area from Campbell to Kellick street, and from Grose Farm to east of Waterloo street. Peter Lewis Bemi , who worked as draughtsman for Major Mitchell the Surveyor-General, inscribed Cleveland street as "named by Sir T.L. Mitchell". South situated to top. The plan shows allotments with acreages, prices, and names of owners, creeks, burial grounds, churches, breweries, barracks, asylums, and streets with names. This subdivision plan features "sales of the Redfern Estate to 12th Sep. 1842". Dr Redfern, a pardoned mutineer and the assistant surgeon in the government medical service had an estate of 100 acres in the future suburb named after him.
