Notes: Sheet "C" of three sheet set. "Lith. 00.660.D". Bubonic plague struck Sydney in January 1900, and by August, 103 people died. The Darling Harbour wharves area was quarantined, and residents were given the option to move to the North Head Quarantine Station. Dr J. Ashburton Thompson, President of the Board of Health, presented more plague Reports of the Board in the following years. The plague was not fully eradicated until 1907, and nearly half of the 1121 people afflicted died. Sheet "A" of the set is entitled 'Map of portion of Sydney and Suburbs shewing by coloured spots the positions of the houses occupied by 294 persons who suffered from plague'. [Lith. 00.587.D] Sheet "B" of the set is entitled 'Map of part of Sydney and suburbs shewing by coloured spots the position of premises at which 259 of the persons who suffered from plague were employed'.
