Notes: Subdivision plan of six blocks of numbered lots around Wynyard Square. Many lots with names of owners added later. The subdivision plan shows "Bank of N.S.W." at corner of George and Wynyard St., built in 1853, but notes only the "M. Joseph" 47 feet of frontage (later bought by the CBC Bank) adjoining at the corner of George and Barrack St. This was built in 1854. This plan is inscribed on verso: "F.H. Reuss"; "Reuss & Halloran", and is stamped "Ferd. H. Reuss, Jun. Architect & Surveyor, 72 Pitt Street". Title from verso. Wynyard Square was named after the last Commandant of the George Street Barracks, General Edward Buckley Wynyard. The Wynyard Barracks were in turn replaced by the Victoria Barracks, commenced in 1841 and opened in 1848. Wynyard garrison left on August 5, 1848. Selected for Digitisation 2013.
