Notes: Each map is made up of a number of separate small sheets, mostly 17 x 22 cm., pasted adjacently on the one sheet. From these maps was drawn Mitchell's printed map, The Lines in front of Lisbon, with the redoubts, batteries, & military ways, as surveyed in 1818. The area covered by the maps stretches from the Tagus river to the sea, and from about Torres Vedras to about half way to Lisbon. Finished map was published by James Wyld in his atlas: "Maps and plans: showing the principal movements, battles & sieges, in which the British army was engaged during the war from 1808 to 1814, in the Spanish Peninsula and of the south of France".
