Contents: 1 item of jewellery - 2.9 x 2.4 cm., portrait, inside frame (sight) - 4.4 x 3.6 cm. (frame) - hand-painted photograph portrait in oval shaped metal pinchbeck frame painted gold, attached with clasps to eight strands of plaited human of hair, blonde in colour.
The miniature is an overpainted photograph of an earlier watercolour.
Although the costume is dated to late 1780's, the female in this portrait is older than her chronological age for this period.
This item is fashioned like a choker and may have been worn by a family descendant.
The text on the mount on reverse of image is difficult to discern.
Two plaited strands of hair are loose from clasps.
