William Noah was sentenced to death for burglary in 1797 at the age of 43. The sentence was commuted to transportation for life. From Newgate Prison he was taken to the transport ship Hillsborough. During the voyage to Sydney one third of the convicts on board died. Noah arrived in Sydney on 26 July 1799. He received a conditional pardon in 1815 a...
