Francis McCrae Cobham (1823-1902) was born in Barbados, educated in Scotland and came to Australia in 1839. In Melbourne he met up with his mother's McCrae relatives. He took up a grazing run, 'Burandudu', on the Upper Murray, and while there he married Catherine Synnot in 1851. Two years later, after the run had failed, he joined the Victorian Pol...
