Administrative / Biographical history

Sydney-born Sallie Colechin has maintained an art practice and professional career as a photographer for over 50 years. Leaving Cremorne Girls High School in 1975, she attained an Art Certificate/Photography Major from the National Art School in 1978 and pursued commercial practice working for theatre and film, community and government organisations and private enterprise. Documenting the LGBTQI movement since the mid-late 1970s, Colechin has also taught commercial photography at TAFE NSW for over twenty years. Her photographic work has been published in various media and is represented in public and private collections in Australia and overseas. Relocating to Wingham, NSW, in 2018, Colechin continues her teaching and exhibition practice in active retirement.
