This work looks up South Head Road from Rushcutters Bay towards the villas of Darlinghurst and Woolloomooloo. At the left can be seen the windmill adjacent to Craigend, and to its right are the two windmills owned by Thomas Barker and Francois Girard which stood near present day Kellet Street and Roslyn Avenue. This painting and DG 374 had been attributed to a Mrs Catherine Gordon because "Gordon" is written in pencil on the reverse. Although their execution does seem cruder than Peacock's usual standard the quality of his work could be uneven, and it is...
