Notes: David Scott Mitchell bookplate inside front cover. Journal bound by the Mitchell Library, Dec. 1925. Journal bears 1814 watermark. The copy was probably commissioned by Oxley. It is a longer version than the one in Oxley's own hand, held in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office Library, London, a microfilm of which was copied under the Australian Joint Copying Project and is located at M 1923. The latter version is closer to Oxley's published account of the expedition: 'Journals of Two Expeditions into the Interior of New South Wales, undertaken by order of the British Government in the Years 1817-18' (London: John Murray, 1820).
