Sir Charles Augustus (1796-1858), was born in England on the 10th June 1796. He was the tenth governor of New South Wales. In 1845 Lord Stanley called on him to conciliate New South Wales. With his wife and second son, George, who became his private secretary, FitzRoy arrived in Sydney in H.M.S. Carysfort on 2 August 1846, and next day began his ad...
