Sir Edgar Mackennal was commissioned to design the statues of Cardinal Moran and Kelly, which stand on the entrance steps of St Mary's Cathedral. He had returned to England after 1926 to work on them and he died in 1931 (Reference: Australian Dictionary of Biography v. 10)
