Notes: All Saints' Church of England, Ainslie, was previously the mortuary railway station, Rookwood, built 1868 and it received its first train 1 Jan 1869. The station was designed by James Barnet, born Arbroath, Scotland, 1827. He arrived in Australia 1854. The station cost 5,101/3/2 but it closed in 1939. The building deteriorated and the roof was destroyed by arson. In 1957, All Saints' Church successfully tendered 100 pounds for its purchase. The builder Mr S.C. (Stan) Taunton and his son John camped at Rookwood for 14 weeks making sectional drawings and numbering and identifying each stone. The 728 tons of stone were carried to Canberra in 83 semi-trailers. Re-assembling the church involved some modifications but no stone was lost and only one damaged. Most of the project was conceived and carried out by the Wardens of the Vestry, the Rector Rev. E.G.
