CONTEXTUAL INFORMATION

Administrative / Biographical history

James Glen Wilson was an Irish artist and photographer commissioned into the Royal Navy for the survey voyages of HMS Herald, recording discoveries in the Pacific. This image would have been made during the Herald's second visit to Sydney from 1 January - 27 May 1854.
