Frederick B. Lamberger was born into a Jewish family in Budapest, Hungary, on 9 May 1907. In 1937 he moved to England to study English. When his passport expired, rather than return to army conscription in Hungary, he went to France, joined the French Underground, was arrested by the Nazis and liberated by the United States at the end of World War...
